Put Your Resume to the Test

Once you've created a resume, you can determine its effectiveness using the following success criteria:

Within 10 seconds or less, is a reader of your resume able to gain a clear idea of the kind of position you're aiming for, as well as a few key pieces of information about your qualifications ?

Does your resume consistently generate a fair rate of interviews for you? For instance, one interview for every 10 resumes submitted is an average result, so your resume should achieve this or even better.

Is your resume easily customizable, allowing you to tweak it quickly to take advantage of opportunities?

If you can answer "Yes!" to these three questions, your resume is a strong tool for your job search toolbox. If not, consider reworking and enhancing your resume to achieve better results.

I probably don't need to convince you that a resume is an essential tool in job searching. However, you might not yet realize the importance of preparing targeted resumes that clearly support your job search goals.

Investing the time and energy necessary to create a powerful, focused resume can significantly improve your job search results and open doors that allow you to attain your career goals.
